The Existence of the α-core and β-core in NTU DEA Game

This paper deals with the problem of fairly allocating a certain amount of divisible goods or burdens among individuals or organizations within the framework of data envelopment analysis (DEA). It is an extension work on our previous research of game theoretic approaches to weight assignments in DEA problems [6]. One of the main points in this previous work was that the core of the TU DEA game is non-empty only if the game is inessential, which motivates us to turn to the NTU situation. In the study of NTU DEA game, we dedicate on showing the existence of the α-core and β-core. Our main conclusion is that the α-core is always existing, whereas β-core is usually empty. We also give a condition under which β-core is non-empty.
